This week we will be preparing for Reconciliation. Mrs. Pellegrino has announced the date of March 3 at 1:00PM for this sacrament.
We will be practicing the Act of Contrition prayer and view a video made by Mrs. Pellegrino detailing what the children will need to know.
Pages 101-109 and **pages 276-279 in our Christ in Us Religion book offers information that will help prepare the children also.
Our book goes home each evening~please read and discuss these pages with your child at home.
JOURNEYS READING ~ Lesson 17
We will be reading a realistic fiction selection, Luke Goes to Bat. Our second read is an informational text about a famous American, Jackie Robinson.
As we read our weekly selections we will be discussing why it is important to keep trying even if something is difficult to do.
Comprehension-
Our target skill is to focus on the sequence of events~ the order in which things happen. We will also look at how visualizing helps us to better understand what we are reading.

GO MATH!
We will be diving back to subtraction of two digit numbers with and without regrouping. Some of the strategies introduced were confusing for some of the students. Support will be offered during lessons for anyone needing assistance.
We will move to the traditional strategy of regrouping (borrowing) when subtracting. It is helpful if the students are able to recall basic subtraction facts within 20. Take out those flash cards and have some Math fun!
SOCIAL STUDIES
We will look back at President Lincoln and President George Washington and begin Unit 3 Land of Immigrants.
SCIENCE
We will be exploring living and nonliving things. If your child brings the Science text book home please be sure it comes back to school.

Our school day begins at 8:00am. Dismissal is 2:45pm. Children are asked to bring a book to read in the morning while we wait to begin our day.
Everyone needs a snack/ water bottle and a home lunch.
Please check your child's backpack for his/her home folder/homework planner/ Math manipulative bag and workbooks used for homework.
After School Program children - Please bring a snack.
Uniform Reminder-
Our classroom is cool due to the vent fans that were put in for circulation. All students are invited to wear the Gym uniform daily. If you choose the STA winter uniform instead, please have your child bring a sweater or sweatshirt. Let's keep everyone healthy!
